Pool Surrounds
Pool surrounds are walked on wet and barefoot. Atlas cleans, seals and reseals them, and says plainly what it can't promise.
Cleaning a Pool Surround
Dirt, grime, mould and algae come off sound concrete with a proper clean. Stains that have soaked in may only fade.
Cleaning doesn't repair damage, and it won't remove a failed sealer.
Sealing and Resealing
A pool surround is sealed and resealed the same way as any other concrete. Worn sealer can be renewed. Peeling or cloudy sealer has to be dealt with first.
All Atlas claims for sealer is that it reduces how easily moisture and grime get into the surface and makes cleaning easier. It isn't a waterproofing system, and Atlas doesn't promise slip resistance or resistance to pool chemicals from any sealer.
Slippery, Rough or Cracked?
A surround that feels slippery when wet is a safety question, not just an appearance one. Cleaning removes growth and grime from the surface, and that's as far as Atlas goes. Atlas doesn't test or rate slip resistance, or certify pool surrounds.
If the surface itself is the problem, or you need it to meet a requirement, sort that out with your pool builder or certifier before choosing any work.
Cracked or broken concrete can't be fixed by cleaning or sealing. Send Andre photos and he'll tell you whether replacing it is a job Atlas can take on.
